Manchester City, Tottenham, and Chelsea target Adam Maher has expressed his desire to leave Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in January, the Daily Star reports.

The 19-year-old recently signed a new contract with the Eredivisie strugglers but has bizarrely denied that it means he is happy to stay in Holland beyond January.

He has claimed that his intentions behind the new deal were to simply upgrade his contract to put him on a par with the clubs top earners, reports which have put interested Premier League suitors on alert.

“If there is a nice club, I’m open to it. I still have the same ambitions as before,” he toldĀ De Telegraaf.

“The future looks the same to me. I’ll continue to the winter break here, then see what happens.”

The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed during his time at AZ, also seeing his form rewarded with his first competitive international cap for Holland earlier this year in a friendly defeat to Belgium.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham all make up the rest of the Premier League’s current top four, behind leaders Manchester United and are keen to bolster their squads as they pursue their respective goals for the season.

Az’s technical director Earnest Stewart claimed that both Chelsea and Tottenham had sent scouts over to watch Maher, last seasons Dutch Young Player of The Year, in action last month while City remain to be heavily linked with him as well.
