Phil Jones insists Manchester United players should carry the blame for their poor season, rather than manager David Moyes, according to the Daily Mirror.

Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure in the Manchester United hot seat, after back-to-back 3-0 home defeats to bitter rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

A plane carrying the message: ‘Wrong One – Moyes Out’, flew over Old Trafford during the opening minutes of Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa, although the under fire boss received a good ovation from the supporters inside the stadium.

Jones insisted it was vital United got back to winning ways to ease the pressure on their under-fire boss, while also claiming it is the players who are to blame for the poor run of results this season.

“It’s always nice to win and to get back to winning ways,” Jones said.

“It was important to do that ahead of what’s probably the biggest game of the season for us, in the Champions League.

“The fans have stuck with us and they deserve enormous credit for the support they have shown, and hopefully they can keep doing that.”

Jones also admitted the players were aware of the fly-by protest before kick off.

“It’s well documented and everyone knows it’s going on,” he added.

“But I thought the fans were terrific again.

“They got behind the team and especially the manager. I think the manager deserves that. He picks the team but we’ve got to take responsibility and we will.”
