Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes that it would be a “big risk” for his old club to make Ryan Giggs their next manager.

The Welshman was appointed as the Red Devils’ interim boss for the remaining four games of the season earlier this week following David Moyes’ dismissal.

Despite him having been yet to take charge of an actual game, many fans are calling for Giggs to be named as their next full chief thanks to his close ties with the club and his long career under Sir Alex Ferguson.

But Saha – who played alongside the midfielder during his time at United – feels that appointing the 40-year-old, who is still registered as a first-team player at Old Trafford, could be a hazardous idea:

“I would love to see Giggs as United’s manager for many years but if I’m logical I would say it’s a big risk right now in terms of experience,” he told talkSPORT.

“You can see that in ten months United might have to make another decision, get rid of him and say, ‘no he has a lack of experience’. It’s a different job and it’s a big task.

“It’s not like the situation where [Pep] Guardiola had a little experience of being with Barcelona’s second team. He was able to experience that, maybe it was a lesser level, but at least he knew more [what it was like].”

Giggs will lead his United team out for the first time later today as they take on relegation battling Norwich.
