England’s top scorer of all time.

Despite the headband, Rooney’s performance on Friday night was brilliant– this being further highlighted by some rather below-average performances by other senior members of the squad. His England tally is now at 37 goals, beating Michael Owen in competitive matches, and only 12 behind the great Sir Bobby Charlton in all-time goal scorers. At 27 it’s fair to say if he carries on like this he will be at the top of the table by the end of his career.

When you look at the statistics Rooney is making his way into the record books as we speak, but that doesn’t stop us booing him when we feel his performance is not to the standard we believe it should be. Is it time then that we all got behind the United star during good games and bad? We’ll see how he performs tonight…
