Caption Competition: A pat on the back for Nani
This week’s Champions League tie between Manchester United and Real Madrid was memorable for a number of reasons. Not only did the Spanish giants knock out Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, former Tottenham man Luka Modric scored a stunner to turn the tide of a match that was delicately poised.
But despite all this, one event dominated the headlines. The decision from referee Cuneyt Cakir to send off Nani for a high foot has split opinion. While former United legend Roy Keane supported the decision, many, including every Red Devils fan in the universe, believed it ruined the game.
After the game, Rio Ferdinand did his best impression of a schoolboy playing playground football by sarcastically clapping in the referee’s face, while Ferguson’s shade of ruddy cheeks made the sun look like a gas hob on the blink, but one man stole the show – Jose Mourinho.
In his post-match press conference The Special One said with a trademark shrug, ‘The best team lost’ and walked off in what could be one of the most blatant job applications in football history.
Here the Los Blancos gaffer has a few words with the departing Nani, but what is he saying?
