Manchester United boss: Nani still has a future
Manchester United boss Ferguson believes that Nani still has a future at Old Trafford and wants to keep the star.
Nani is demanding first team football and Ferguson admits that this is the defining factor in trying to persuade him to stay.
Nani has only managed 5 Premier League starts this season and was upset at being left out of United’s 18-man squad that travelled to the Bernabeu last week to face Real Madrid.
Manager Alex Ferguson wants to keep Nani at United describing him to the Independent as “without doubt one of the best match-winners in the whole of Europe” after his performance against Reading on Monday night.
“[Chief executive] David [Gill] has been speaking to [Nani's] agent for quite a few weeks now,” Ferguson said.
“It’s up to the boy himself. He’s got a year and a half left, I would prefer to keep him to the end of his contract. But I think
he wants guaranteed first-team football. But he can guarantee that. His performance the other night can guarantee that.
“We’re trying our best because he’s such a match-winning player.”
Despite wanting to keep the Portguese winger it is likely that he will leave in the summer when Wilfried Zaha arrives at Old Trafford. Arsenal may renew their interest but it is thought that the attacker would prefer to play in Spain or Portugal.
