Ferguson Confirms Giggs Will Feature In Champions League
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ryan Giggs will play some part against Real Madrid at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The veteran winger was not in the United squad that beat Norwich 4-0 at home yesterday to send the Red Devils 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of rivals Manchester City.
The 39-year-old Welsh maestro signed a new one year contract at Old Trafford this week that will see him play into his 41st year and he could become the oldest Premier League player of all time overtaking another Manchester United legend Teddy Sherringham.
Giggs will make his 1000th appearance for the Red Devils against Real Madrid in midweek with the Champions League last 16 tie all square at 1-1 from the first leg.
Ferguson has praised the winger as a great example after confirming he will be involved on Tuesday night.
“He will be involved, no doubt about that,” Ferguson told BBC Sport.
“It will be a great moment for him, a great game, a great example for all young players that he can be playing his 1,000th game as a professional.”
