French champions Paris Saints-Germain are ready to revive their long-standing interest in Manchester United‘s Wayne Rooney, according to reports from The Express.

The Parisians were thought to have made Angel di Maria – coincidently a Red Devils target – their priority for the summer, but Real Madrid’s £50m+ valuation is proving difficult for the Middle Eastern-backed side due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Rooney was linked with PSG last year – and has been reported as a target for them once again a matter of months ago in a swap deal involving Edinson Cavani – with the Parc des Princes side understood to be big fans of the high-profile England international.

However United are unlikely to be willing to part with ‘Wazza’, who has appeared invigorated in recent times and is likely to play alongside Robin van Persie in Louis van Gaal’s 3-4-1-2 formation.

PSG are also keen on Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle, who is seen as a slightly more orthodox, if not as ‘marquee’, signing given his ability to play on either flank.
