Manchester United signing Wilfried Zaha

Manchester United signing Wilfried Zaha has publicly apologised for his abusive gesture towards Leeds fans last Saturday, but still awaits the FA’s decision on the incident, reports The Sun.

The Crystal Palace winger, who will move to Old Trafford this summer, was pictured making an obscene gesture to Leeds supporters during the 2-2 draw in the Championship at the weekend.

The Leeds fans targeted the 20-year-old for signing with the Premier League leaders, with Zaha responding in a way that led the midfielder to apologise on Twitter.

“I want to apologise for the gesture I did towards the Leeds fans in yesterday’s game. Very unprofessional from me,” Zaha admitted.

The FA, who were alerted of the misconduct, will ask for extra footage, as they are reluctant to make a verdict on the grounds of still shots and Zaha could face a fine should the Football Association finally decide to take action.

The player, loaned by Manchester United to Crystal Palace after signing for the Reds in January, also awaits the international break, as he could be picked up by the England senior team or have a spot with the Under 21s after a fantastic season in the Championship.
