Manchester United have confirmed that Ryan Giggs has been appointed interim manager following the departure of David Moyes.

The 40-year-old United legend was heavily touted to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson before Moyes got the job last summer, but is still a player manager at the club.

The Old Trafford club announced the departure of Moyes on Twitter this morning, saying: “We would like to place on record our thanks for the hard work honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”

And after a disastrous season for United, which has seen them relinquish their Premier League crown and Champions League status next season, it is now down to Ryan Giggs to try and restore some pride at the club between now and the end of the season.
