Manchester United are hopeful that a £56m offer in the coming days will be enough to bring the Angel di Maria saga to an end, according to reports from MARCA.

The Red Devils have been linked with the Argentine World Cup finalist for much of the summer and Louis van Gaal’s desire to draft him in has intensified since their season-opening loss to Swansea last weekend.

PSG have long been seen as frontrunners for the silky attacker, but Financial Fair Play restrictions have forced the French giants to look at a loan deal for the coming season with a view to a big offer next year, which the European champions are reluctant to commit to.

United have the cash to pay Real’s asking price – £56m – now, and are hopeful that an offer in the coming days will be enough to ensure they bag their man.

Di Maria wants wages of around £200,000-per-week, which have been deemed acceptable at the Theatre of Dreams.

The South American has also requested a transfer, further opening the door for a move before the transfer window closes.

Di Maria will come no matter how execrable Woodward has been because our hearts are literally weeping out oceans of frustration and Ed will have to sort this one this time or else the ire of the man utd fans will know no limits. We are kings and will remain the kings provided we can this transfer right this time.
