Manchester United are ready to launch a late move for Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin if they are unable to tie up a deal for long-term target Arturo Vidal, according to reports from The Metro.

The Red Devils’ hopes of landing the Chile international are once again looking bleak, with Juventus’ end of week deadline getting ever closer and their manager Massimiliano Allegri having stated that the 27-year-old will be in Turin for the coming season.

United are thought to be ready to make one last push for the player they’ve reportedly agreed a contract with, but as negotiations have been slow they are lining up a contingency plan.

Louis van Gaal is desperate to add some guile and dynamism to his midfield, and Guarin is seen as a viable alternative.

The Colombian star is not dissimilar to Vidal in his playing style and is also highly-rated in Italy.

LVG is understood to be frustrated at only landing Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera so far since taking control at Old Trafford, with a lack of Champions League football rumoured to have been hindering their pursuits of big names.
