Juventus have told Manchester United to give them £45m and Nani if they want to sign Arturo Vidal this summer, according to reports from Goal.

The Chile international – who starred for his side at the World Cup – is thought to be Louis van Gaal’s top target for the coming months.

After snapping up the creative Ander Herrera, the Dutchman wants a physical presence with plenty of energy alongside, with Vidal the ideal candidate.

The 27-year-old is widely seen as one of Europe’s best box-to-box players, and has been a key member of Juve’s recent successes.

United are desperate to get their man, but the Old Lady are far from willing to sell.

They would only consider a massive £45m in cash and Nani – a target for the Turin giants for some time – to part with Vidal.

This may deter the Red Devils, who are also looking at William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese youngster would cost around £37m, but would command lower wages and is seen as more of a long-term option.
