Manchester United are not planning to cut Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini loose this summer, according to reports from the Manchester Evening News.

Rumours in recent days have suggested that the Red Devils have grown frustrated with their marquee arrival from last summer, with the £27.5m Belgian having endured a tough debut season at Old Trafford.

It has been said that Louis van Gaal has sent instructions back from Brazil to look for a new club for the big-haired enforcer, who may struggle for game time as the Dutchman plots his own additions.

But it is understood that this is not true, and that Fellaini still has a role to play at United.

The 26-year-old is said to be ready to fight for his future at the Theatre of Dreams, but with Juventus lurking a £20m exit may have tempted him.

Fellaini struggled with the weight of his price tag and a number of injuries in a poor season under David Moyes at United, and was widely seen as a scapegoat by sections of the club’s support.

Despite his form, the lanky midfielder featured in Belgium’s World Cup set-up, helping his nation to the quarter-finals.
