Manchester United star Wayne Rooney believes teams no longer fear playing at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Star.

United’s season hit a new low when Manchester City left Old Trafford with a comfortable 3-0 derby victory on Tuesday evening, and Rooney was honest in his assessment that followed.

The England international called on his teammates to improve their home form in time for the weekend clash with Aston Villa, with European Champions Bayern Munich due to arrive for their Champions League clash shortly afterwards.

“It’s not good enough,” Rooney said.

“We can’t lose six homes games in a season and we have to put that right, and make Old Trafford a place which teams fear again.

“We have to step up and start giving the fans something to cheer about with some good performances and wins.

“No-one likes to lose a derby game – they’re big games and they’re great to win, but when you lose it’s not a great feeling. For the fans and for us, we have to win more and stay together.”

Defender Rafael also apologised to supporters yesterday following their latest home defeat, insisting the team were desperate to put things right.

The Brazilian said: “Sorry for our fans, I have never felt so sad in my life. We will come back to where we belong.”
