Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney wants to put all of his effort into his on-field success after singing a new big money deal, as reported by Sky Sports.

Rooney signed a new deal with United on Friday evening worth a whopping £300k a week, and people in the media and elsewhere have doubted whether the England man is worth that sort of cash.

However, the 28-year-old scored a stunning goal in United’s win away at Crystal Palace yesterday, a result that puts heavy pressure on Tottenham and Liverpool, who play today, in the race for fourth spot.

Rooney must have been confident of David Moyes’ side making the Champions League spot to sign a new deal with a number of clubs including Chelsea and Real Madrid enquiring about him.

The main man for England’s World Cup push has admitted that he is not interested in what the media say, and that he just wants to do his talking on the pitch.

“Whether I’m signing a new deal or not I always give 110 per cent on the pitch and that’s what I’ve done today.

“It’s been more or less agreed for a month now and it was just the fine details that needed sorting. I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible and thankfully it’s behind me and I can concentrate on my football.

“Obviously I’ve been letting my football do the talking but I’m happy and settled.”
