Manchester United have made Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp their top target to replace David Moyes, according to reports from Goal.

Speculation that the current Red Devils chief is set to be given his marching orders has been rife in the last 24 hours, with the Glazer family – the club’s owners – said to have lost patience with him after the weekend loss to Everton.

The limp display and the mathematical realisation that Champions League football will not be gracing Old Trafford next term is thought to have prompted the potential call to axe Moyes and replace him with a new chief.

Klopp is seen as the prime candidate for the role, with reports suggesting that he has already been approached by United.

Although initially sceptical about the idea, the German has since altered his stance and could opt to take to the dugout in the Theatre of Dreams.

The Dortmund manager is believed to have grown frustrated with life at the Westfalenstadion of late, with the former Bundesliga champions having sold a number of key players and slipped some way behind bitter rivals Bayern Munich.

Klopp is unlikely to take the position until the end of the season, with Ryan Giggs set to be given the responsibility in the meantime.

Moyes could well be sacked before United’s clash with Norwich this weekend.
