Manchester United are set to launch a £33m summer move for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, according to reports from Fichajes.

The German playmaker only joined the Bundesliga champions from bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund last year, but is already believed to be ready to call time on his spell at the Allianz Arena.

Although he has played regularly for Bayern this term, the 21-year-old is understood to be unhappy with his role under Pep Guardiola, with the Spaniard not valuing him as highly as he was he was held at his old club.

Gotze was linked with United last summer prior to his switch to the Bavarian giants, and it now appears that the Premier League champions are still keen on him.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at Old Trafford, the club are looking to press ahead with transfer plans.

A creative midfielder is seen as the priority and although Toni Kroos was thought of as the top target, Gotze is now an option.

It’s understood that a fee of around £33m will be needed to snap up the youngster, with Bayern unlikely to be willing to take a financial hit on the player.

13 of Gotze’s 38 outings this term have been from the bench, yet he has still managed 13 goals and 11 assists.
