Manchester United are prepared to offer Arturo Vidal a contract worth £10m-per-year in a bid to persuade him to move to Old Trafford from Juventus, according to reports from El Murcurio.

The Chilean midfielder is said to be the Red Devils’ top target ahead of the new season, with Louis van Gaal desperate to add pace, energy and enthusiasm to his engine room.

Rumours have indicated that the player himself may be open to the switch, but a lack of Champions League football is thought to be a slight sticking point.

However, United are prepared to break the bank in a bid to convince Vidal by presenting him with a lucrative contract.

Wages of around £200,000-per-week are thought to be in place for him, which would make the South American one of the club’s highest earners – on a par with Robin van Persie.

Vidal currently takes home less than half of the potential sums he could get at the Theatre of Dreams, which may tempt him away from Juve.

The commanding midfielder could become United’s third arrival of the summer, following £60m duo Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.
