Manchester United boss David Moyes has warned Liverpool not to get used to being the dominant force in their rivalry ahead of next season.

The Reds have enjoyed a rare campaign in which they have been top dogs in the age-old battle between the geographical foes.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been playing some excellent football and currently find themselves just one place off of the top of the table, while David Moyes has endured a contrasting season.

The new United chief has struggled with the pressure of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson, which has seen his team all but out of the title race from around Christmas.

Going into the game Liverpool have been talking up their dominance, but Moyes has told them not to get too comfortable:

“When it was the opposite way around the question was probably being asked at Liverpool.” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“I would say we will regroup and get ourselves back together and hopefully it won’t be too long.

“These games are big no matter what. It is a massively important game because of what it means to supporters.

“It is also important to us because we want to keep climbing the table and clawing the points back and see what position we can get ourselves into.

“My biggest goal is not affecting their title challenge, my biggest goal is to get Manchester United winning the title again.

“That is my goal and will be my goal every year I am in the job. Will it be to stop others winning the league?

“No that won’t mean much to me. The important thing is us winning our games.”

Liverpool are widely being tipped as favourites for the clash, despite their last win at Old Trafford coming in 2009.
