Marcos Rojo’s move to Manchester United is on the verge of collapse, according to reports from The Sun.

The Argentine defender was believed to have completed a £16m switch to Old Trafford last week, but the player is yet to make his debut as off-field dramas rumble on.

Rojo has been unable to obtain a work permit as of yet, despite serious efforts on the part of the player and United.

As well as this, third party ownership issues have once again surfaced.

It’s understood that the problems between Sporting Lisbon and the other companies involved are still bubbling away, which could de-rail Rojo’s dream switch to United, even though he has been training with the club.

The defender’s work permit issues are complicated, with the system stating that he has to have featured in at least 75% of Argentina’s competitive games over the course of the last two years.

United are set to argue that his talent would have allowed him an increased role in another nation’s set-up, as Chelsea did to land Willian last year.

Angel di Maria – also from Argentina – did not require a work permit thanks to holding an Italian passport.

If u a massive united fan like u claim to be .. Why the hell did I just brush aside FERGIE like that .. Yes , LVG is good , but u crossing lines here pal .. Better than FERGIE , LOL. U see son , FERGIE would have contended for the title with buying only a midfielder or even no1 since his fav kid fletcher is back .. All he would have needed is one CB done .. All this has showed us , is how unparalleled sir Alex ferguson is .. Anyway , #GGMU
