Manchester United could mount a new move for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas following talk that the midfielder has been told he can leave at the end of the season, according to reports from The Metro.

The Red Devils chased the ex-Arsenal man for much of last summer, but were unable to lure him away from the Nou Camp.

Three separate bids were lodged for the Spaniard, yet Barca rejected them all to keep their silky passer.

However their stance on Fabregas has shifted in recent weeks, with rumours suggesting that they are now ready to sell.

It is understood that the Catalans are set for a big transfer window clear-out – pending their appeal against a FIFA ban – and have told the 26-year-old that he will be allowed to leave should a respectable offer be received.

United value Fabregas at around £25m, and David Moyes is likely to be willing to splash such a sum to bring in a top class playmaker.

The World Cup-winner re-joined his boyhood club from Arsenal in 2011, but has struggled for much of his second spell at Barca after finding himself out of his natural central position on a number of occasions.
