Manchester United move for Real Madrid star

Manchester United are considering a shock summer move for unsettled Real Madrid star Luka Modric.
Luka Modric completed a £33million move to the Bernebeu last summer but has failed to make an impact. The Croatian playmaker was voted the worst transfer of the year by La Liga fans and is struggling to impose himself in the Los Blancos first team. He has only scored twice this season and one of those goals was the stunner against United last week in the Champions League when he came on as a substitute.
Alex Ferguson has always been a fan of Modric and is eyeing up the star as part of his summer mission to strengthen up his midfield. He admired the player during his Spurs days and was heavily linked to him even then.
Modric is open to a move to Old Trafford and and told friends he would be keen to cut his Real Madrid career short, according to The Metro. He is unsettled in Spain and it is reported that his wife and son regularly visit their London home and would welcome a return to England.
Ryan Giggs fuelled the rumour further when he spoke of his admiration for the stunning goal Modric scored last week.
“It was brilliant by Luka Modric,” said the Welsh veteran.
“There’s not a lot you can do, going down to 10 men. Carra [Michael Carrick] was in the back four and he had to come out to Modric, close him down, whereas if we’d had 11, he would have been there probably.
“Take nothing away from Modric, it was a great goal.”
