David Moyes (Manchester United)

Manchester United manager David Moyes has set his sights on £80million worth of new signings for the January transfer window, according to the Daily Express.

The United boss is set to go back in for Everton full back Leighton Baines and Athletic Bilbao play maker Ander Herrara – both players he missed out on in the summer – while also identifying Porto centre back Eliaquim Mangala as a target.

Moyes has been encouraged to spend after Manchester United’s dreadful start to the season. Their 2-1 defeat to West Brom Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday, was their third in six matches. They currently lie in 12th position having only taken seven points from a possible 18.

Baines is set to be first on the agenda in January, with the full back making an impressive start to the season with Everton once again.

The England man is yet to sign a new deal at Goodison Park, and reportedly wanted to make the switch to Old Trafford in the summer.

Another man Moyes came close to signing is Spaniard Ander Herrara. Moyes is said to value the midfielder at £25million, but Athletic Bilbao are demanding closer to £30million. The fact the two clubs couldn’t agree a figure on deadline day meant Herrara stayed put, and Moyes came under fire for failing to secure the deal.

And finally, 22-year-old Porto centre back Mangala has already been scouted by United, but they will have to pay up to £37.5million to land the French international.

Manchester City and Chelsea are also said to be interested, but Moyes will make a move in the knowledge he has the financial backing of the Glazers.
