Manchester United are preparing long term contract offers for David De Gea, Phil Jones, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley, according to the Express.

De Gea, Jones and Welbeck all have two years remaining on their current contracts, but Cleverley’s is set to enter its final 14 months.

Reports indicate Jones has already opened talks over a new long term deal, with the club viewing the England international as the most likely long term replacement for Nemanja Vidic.

De Gea – who joined United from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 – has been a rare consistent performer in what has been a difficult season for the club, and is set to be rewarded for his performances.

The Spanaird has managed to keep 11 clean sheets this season, and is set to be rewarded with a significantly improved deal.

Welbeck is one of the few homegrown players remaining at the club, having come through the youth system from the age of 8. The England forward signed a contract extension in 2012, but is set to renew his terms.

Cleverley has often been criticised for his performances in the heart of United’s midfield this season, but is also set to be offered  new contract.

United travel to Newcastle tomorrow looking to avenge their 1-0 defeat to the Magpies at Old Trafford in December.
