Manchester United want to sign PSG midfielder Lucas Moura, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazilian, who was a target for United in 2012 under Sir Alex Ferguson, joined the Ligue 1 side when he was just 19-years-old for a staggering €45million. And while Moyes flew out to watch Lucas play against Bordeaux on Tuesday, there are doubts whether he would be able to agree on a price with the French champions, even if they wanted to sell.

The Scot has been flying all over Europe in search of new additions to his United squad, and thinks the Brazil playmaker would be a hit at Old Trafford. It would also be a huge boost personally if he could sign the player that Sir Alex couldn’t.

United are ready to match Lucas’ £120,000-a-week wages, and believe they could tempt him with guaranteed first team football, something he has missed out on at PSG. Of his 18 matches in Ligue 1 this season, only nine of them have been starts, with the other nine appearances coming from the bench.

While at the Parc des Princes, Moyes also scouted Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore. But it is understood that the United boss prefers the 21-year-old Brazilian ahead of Pastore, who has struggled even more to get into the first team.

I like the way moyes is doing his business. Too many rumours but at least he has put in a personal innitiative to scout the players himself and have a couple of talks with the ‘respective club(s)’ management. He continues to prove to me and a number of more United fans that he is the man for the job.
