Nemanja Vidic believes Manchester United have enough about them to defeat Sunderland and set up a Capital One Cup Final meeting with rivals Manchester United.

United trail Sunderland 2-1 from their Semi-Final first leg at the Stadium of Light two weeks ago, leaving them with a tough job of booking their place at Wembley in March.

But the Serb insists they have what it takes to overturn the one goal deficit and ensure it is not a trophyless first season for David Moyes as United boss.

“Obviously a trophy is important for the club, for the manager and the players,” he told MUTV.

“You don’t want to finish the season without a trophy, especially at a club like United. We have an opportunity to get to the final now.

“We didn’t have a great result in the first match, but we’re playing at home and I believe we can get a good result and get to Wembley, and then we’ll see what happens.”

Vidic’s header in the first-leg looked to have secured a 1-1 first-leg draw at the Stadium of Light, but his equaliser was sandwiched between a Phil Bardsley opener and a Fabio Borini penalty.
