Manchester United have shown an interest to sign PSG’s veteran defender Diego Lugano in January, as Fergie looks to bolster his defensive options, according to TalkSport.

The 31 year-old centre back was brought in by Carlo Ancelotti in the summer of 2011, but has failed to force a way into the French club’s starting eleven.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to add support to his defence that has been leaking goals so far this season and could make a bid for Lugano.

Bringing in Lugano’s experience would be beneficial for the club and should follow up their interest with a bid, then Ancelotti is unlikely to stand in the way of Lugano heading to Old Trafford.

The powerfully built defender has played 72 times for his national side and was an instrumental player in Uruguay’s 2011 Copa America triumph.
