Juan Mata believes that Manchester United still have the pulling power to attract big name players, despite their current problems.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult season under the guidance of David Moyes, who has struggled to fill the void left by Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Despite there being a third of the campaign left, United are all but out of the race for the title, and face a difficult task in securing a top four finish.

If they miss out on Champions League football it has been suggested that signing the players need to rejuvenate their squad may become a near impossible task.

But Mata – who arrived in January in a club record £37.1m deal from Chelsea – believes that the Old Trafford outfit will always have the power to land top class names:

“The manager said the other day at a press conference that he’s going to be signing players,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“I think this club is at a stage of change, a bit of change in the project, but as I’ll tell you, at this club the best players in the world will always arrive.”

Mata also said that a top four finish is still the aim for United, despite them trailing fourth placed Liverpool – who also have a superior goal difference – by 11 points:

“The objective is to get to the Champions League spots.

“It’s difficult because Liverpool are doing well, so are Arsenal, as well as Tottenham and Everton, who are all clubs also fighting for them, but I think we have a team who can do it.”
