David Moyes and his Manchester United squad arrived back in England following their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich facing uncertain futures, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester United’s last hope of silverware ended with a 3-1 defeat in the Allianz Arena, and Moyes now faces a challenge to motivate his players for the remaining five games of the season.

United currently occupy seventh place in the Premier League, and look unlikely to finish much higher.

They trail fourth placed Arsenal by seven points, so face the prospect of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 18 years.

United’s players also face an uncertain future, with as many as 10 facing the prospect of a summer exit as Moyes plans his rebuilding programme.

Midfielder Darren Fletcher believes United’s players must prove they deserve to stay at the club over the remaining five games of the season.

“We now have five league games left with nothing really to play for. That is a unique experience for us and we are  disappointed and hurting, but we have to go into these games and we have to win them,” Fletcher said.

“He (Moyes) will definitely look back on this season and realise it was a disappointment, but I fully expect there to be some signings. It is time to show the manager that you deserve to be at this club.”
