Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes that Cristiano Ronaldo may one day make a stunning return to Manchester United.

The Portuguese winger – who currently holds the prestigious Ballon d’Or award – made his name at Old Trafford following an early switch to the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon.

He spent six years with the club under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson, helping them to claim three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and the Champions League in 2007/08.

However, the now 29-year-old eventually left to join Real in a then world record £80m deal, and has gone on to net in excess of 150 goals for Los Blancos.

Although he is the La Liga giants’ most influential player as it stands, Calderon says that one day he may leave the club to return to United:

“You never know,” he is quoted by Goal.

“I know when I signed him, he was saying that Manchester for him has been like his house, he was quite happy there with the fans, with the club.

“At the time with (Alex) Ferguson, he considered him like a father, and everything for him in Manchester was perfect.

“But he wanted to come to Madrid and play for Real, and you never know, maybe at the end of his career he would like to come back to England and back to Manchester.

Ronaldo was linked with a shock switch back to Old Trafford last year amid rumours he had grown unsettled at Real.
