Real Madrid defenders Pepe and Sergio RamosReal Madrid defensive duo Pepe and Sergio Ramos have warned Manchester United that they will be facing a team full of confidence in their midweek Champions League clash.

The two sides drew their first-leg encounter at the Bernabeu 1-1, with Danny Welbeck netting a potentially vital away goal for the Red Devils.

This has led to a feeling of optimism at Old Trafford ahead of their last-16 second leg meeting with the Galacticos on Tuesday.

But, since the draw Real have been in fine form, notching an El Clasico double over Barcelona, with 3-1 and 2-1 successes in the Spanish Cup and league respectively.

Ramos feels that these results give Real the momentum heading to Old Trafford:

“The desire is to eliminate United, but we will go to Manchester showing great respect to our opponent.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

“Psychologically the team has strengthened after the clasicos but we will go into the match convinced we can go through. We know we can go through.”

Real will be without captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas for the game, with the Spaniard missing through injury.

But, Pepe is confident of booking a spot in the quarter-finals, and believes that the wealth of high quality players in the club’s squad will be decisive:

“We have hit our best form. Apart from (Iker) Casillas we have everyone available and the manager has great solutions on the bench.

“We have achieved two important victories given the form and quality of the opponent we were playing and that gives us great motivation for the Manchester United game.

“We are happy and now we need to rest and think about the game on Tuesday.”
