Ronaldo ready to sink Manchester United
Ronaldo is set to face his old club for the first time since his record breaking £80million move to the Bernabeu in 2009.
The clubs will meet in the last 16 of the Champions League next month, and while the Portugese forward claims he would be sad to score against United, he is fully committed to the Real Madrid cause and knocking out his old teammates.
“I still have great feeling of friendship and love for them, they’re a team that have done a lot for my career,” said Ronaldo.
“The fans know me well and I have a lot of friends there that I keep close to my heart.”
“But now I am defending Real Madrid’s colours. ”
“It’s a bit of a sad feeling I guess, but I want to score, and for us to win, and that would make everything better.”
Ronaldo has been the subject of speculation regarding his future with the Spanish champions, publicly stating in recent times that he was “sad” due to professional reasons.
He has also been widely tipped for a summer move, with his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson said to be interested in bringing him back to Old Trafford.
However Ronaldo refused to be drawn into discussing his contract situation, but while that will rumble on, he seems focussed on his current club for now and ending United’s European dream.
