Everybody knew following in Sir Alex Ferguson’s footsteps would be an almost impossible task for David Moyes, but few had predicted the new Manchester Untied boss would struggle as much as he has at the start of his Old Trafford career.

Following a summer in which the Scot could secure just one first team signing in the form of fellow former Toffee Marouane Fellaini, and a start to their Premier League title-defence campaign that’s seen the Red Devils plummet all the way to ninth in the English table, the ambitions of the Old Trafford faithful are quickly shifting from title retention to less ambitiously maintaining United’s Champions League status.
