According to Mirror Football, amid the glut of quality in Manchester United’s midfield, the Old Trafford side are preparing an audacious swoop for Barcelona midfielder Xavi this summer.

The Nou Camp veteran may be 34 years of age but there’s no doubting his ability, having claimed seven La Liga titles and three Champions League titles in addition to two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain throughout an incredibly illustrious career.

Furthermore, with Barcelona caught in transition and resultantly enjoying a rather stale 2013/14 campaign, it’s believed the Spanish icon is eyeing a major move to a new top flight before hanging up his boots.

But with the Red Devils reportedly planning to spend around ¬£200million on new recruits this summer as they welcome Louis van Gaal to the Old Trafford helm, there’s no doubt that more targets will follow Xavi to United in the coming transfer window.

With that in mind, here’s a list of SIX United targets who could join the Spain international at Carrington this summer, some inspired by his arrival, others being more coincidental acquisitions.
