As far as transfer rumours go, Wayne Rooney leaving Manchester United is massive.

The England international was dropped to the bench for the Red Devils’ Champions League tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday, prompting speculation that his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson is now at breaking point.

With two years left on his contract, now would appear to be the ideal time to extend the deal, but a lack of action from United hints that they are indeed ready to part company with their talismanic attacker.
