United face stiff competition for Bundesliga star
Robert Lewandowski has been at the top of most manager’s shopping list for a couple of years and is set to decide his future in the summer according to The Sun.
Borussia Dortmund striker Lewandowski is set to finish the season with the German club and then hold talks with Chief Hans-Joachim Watzke and listen to all offers available from other clubs before making his decision.
Not wanting to discuss it mid-season he said: “We’ll talk after the final match of the season and we’ll see”.
Star striker Lewandowski has had an impressive season so far, scoring 13 goals already and 17 in all competitions. He has been a transfer target of Alex Ferguson for a while, but Manchester United could face stiff competition from Bayern Munich who have also expressed interest.
New manager Pep Guardiola takes over in the summer and Lewandowski is amongst the players he is targeting to boost the Bayern Munich team. Guardiola has money to spend and Lewandowski would fit into Bayern’s style of play very well.
With Lewandowski’s contract up in June 2014 it is certain that his future will be decided then, but Ferguson will be hoping he can coax the striker to the Premier League.
