Wilfried Zaha (Manchester United)

Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha has angrily denied rumours he has been dropped from the first team for bedding manager David Moyes’ daughter, according to the Daily Star.

The Internet has been filled with rumours regarding 20-year-old Zaha, and Moyes’s 19-year-old daughter Lauren, for the past couple of days.

Yesterday ‘Lauren Moyes’ was trending on Twitter, while her own account and website were taken down.

Zaha – who incidentally was left out of the Manchester United squad to face Shaktar Donetsk last night – tweeted himself: “Silly rumours #childish”.

And now the Manchester United man’s agent has moved to deny the story, claiming it is simply not the reason why Zaha has been dropped, describing the rumour as “absolute rubbish”, adding: “It’s not true at all.”

Zaha has struggled for first team football since arriving at Old Trafford, having been originally signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for £15million in January.

He is yet to earn a league start under Moyes, despite the poor performances so far this season from Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

The story exploded over Twitter yesterday, with Zaha’s post earning over 1,400 retweets and thousands of replies.

One of which from @BenMUFC joked: “To be honest knocking off David Moyes’s daughter is worth sitting on the bench. Well played Zaha.”

However, plenty of other Twitter users dismissed the talk completely, with one fan posting: “Zaha didn’t do anything with Lauren Moyes. It’s a stupid twitter rumour…”

Nobody at Manchester United – who travelled to Ukraine last night – were available to comment.
