Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is unfazed by last night’s defeat to Chelsea, maintaining that his side was weakened by injuries to five or six key players.

The Citizens suffered their first league home defeat of the season, however the manager believes his side has not been dealt a major psychological blow.

He said in his post-match interview: “I remember we won all the other big games.

“It is the first time we lost a big game with five or six less players(referring to injured players). This defeat will not have any psychological problems in our team. We will see in the next game the way we continue.”

The Chilean also asserts that the title race is far from over, mentioning that the match was much more pivotal to Chelsea, although concedes his make shift midfield and back line were not match for Chelsea.

“For Chelsea it was a decisive game, not for us,” he added.

“If we won, we were six points ahead of them. Now we are two points behind Arsenal. We have 39 points to play for.”

“I think that of course he (Fernandinho) is a very important player for us. You must add Sami Nasri, Sergio Agueri and Javi Garcia. James Milner was not 100 per cent. Alvaro Negredo was not 100 per cent. That was too much of an advantage for a team as important as Chelsea.”
