Newcastle ace insists team must win next fixtures
Hatem Ben Arfa has insisted that Newcastle must win their next two fixtures, if they are to make this season a success.
The Magpies are still reeling from their draw against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, with Luis Suarez’s second half goal securing the Reds a draw, after Yohan Cabaye had given the Magpies the lead with a goal that Hatem Ben Arfa created.
To make things worse for the Magpies, their captain Fabricio Coloccini was dismissed for a lunge on Luis Suarez, while three of the team are injured, including talisman Yohan Cabaye.
Due to this setback, Ben Arfa believes it is of great importance that Newcastle secure wins over Club Brugge and West Ham.
“We have a big week ahead. First Brugge, and then West Ham, and we have to win both. If we win the next few games in the Premier League we will move up the table. There’s West Ham first and then Swansea. I think the next five games are very important,” he told The Shields Gazette.
Ben Arfa however, believes the team performed well against Brendan Rodgers’ side, but that a lack of concentration cost them.
“We did well, but maybe we lost concentration in the second half. They scored a goal but I think we made it hard for them to score more. We defended very well in the second half. I think it’s a good point,” he added.
“Sometimes it is hard to get points here because there’s a big atmosphere here. It was a very nice goal from Cabaye. He controlled the ball and shot an unstoppable effort.”
Newcastle have decided against appealing the red card shown to Fabricio Coloccini, a sending-off which has been the subject of much debate, and has been criticised by some, including Michael Owen and John Anderson.
