Alan Pardew has once again talked up Newcastle’s interest in QPR striker Loic Remy.

The France international spent last season on loan at St James’ Park from the Super Hoops, but has since left the club and looked to be on the verge of joining Liverpool in an £8.5m deal.

However despite personal terms having been agreed, the switch reportedly collapsed due to problems discovered during the player’s medical.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has voiced his shock at the situation, but despite the problems he still looks likely to be sold this summer.

Newcastle are now back in the running for the 27-year-old – who netted 14 goals for the Magpies in 2013/14 – and Pardew says that he would like to bring the forward back to the North East:

“It’s a straightforward deal if Loic and QPR decide to do business with us,” he is quoted by The Metro.

“The results speak for themselves. The fans loved him and I think it’s a great place for him personally.

“There is a lot of baggage in the way at the moment because of what happened at Liverpool, and the fact he has a parent club in QPR.

“But I wouldn’t say we’re not interested in him, of course we would be.”
