The 23-year-old has been attracting the attention of a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including the likes of QPR and Aston Villa.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, it appears likely that he will be on the move this month.

Toulouse are rumoured to be willing to allow Sissoko to leave on for a fee of £2.5-5m rather than see him depart for free at the end of the season.

This has alerted Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, who is keen to add some steel to his midfield in an attempt to steep the Tyne club clear of relegation.

Sissoko has reportedly been left out of Toulouse’s squad for their midweek fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, fuelling rumours he is set for a transfer.

Should Pardew table a bid it’s likely that a deal could be concluded swiftly.

They could face serious competition in the shape of QPR, who recently beat them to the signature of Loic Remy from Marseille.

Super Hoops manager Harry Redknapp is believed to be in the market for a central midfielder, with news that his prime target Yann M’Vila could reject a move to Loftus Road to sign for Rubin Kazan.
