Newcastle closing in on Yoan Gouffran deal
The 23-year-old revealed his excitement upon penning his five-and-a-half year contract with the Tyne club:
“It is an honour to be able to come to Newcastle United and have the chance to play in the Premier League.
“Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in the league, and I’m going to try and give everything I have so that the team can do well.”
He looks likely to be followed to St James’ Park by winger Gouffran, with manager Alan Pardew having agreed a £1.5 fee for his services.
The player himself confirmed that a move is close to be being completed on his personal Twitter account:
“Thank you to all those who supported me through the good and the bad, the leadership and staff at the club.
“Growing up I needed a new challenge so I hope you will respect my choice. I will follow the results of the Girondins.
“Tomorrow I will be a new player and I am proud, Newcastle thank you.”
His arrival will be the latest of Pardew’s raid on Ligue 1, with the Newcastle chief having drafted in a number of stars from France’s top division.
Mathieu Debuchy has already signed for the club this window, whilst midfielder Yohan Cabaye arrived in 2011 along with Hatem Ben Arfa.
