Newcastle are ready to move for veteran striker Darren Bent as they plan for life without Loic Remy, according to reports from The Express.

Keeping the on-loan Frenchman has long been the Magpies’ priority, but with the QPR-owned man’s form having been so impressive over the last season – 14 goals in 24 starts – doing so now looks impossible.

Everton, Tottenham, and Arsenal are all watching the forward, with reports suggesting that the latter two are in contact with his representatives.

As a result Newcastle are starting to look elsewhere, and have targeted Bent.

The veteran hit-man is set to be on the lookout for a new club after suffering relegation with loan side Fulham last term.

Aston Villa are desperate to offload him, and are likely to take a gigantic hit in the £24m they paid for his services in 2011.

The 30-year-old possesses a wealth of Premier League experience after representing Charlton, Tottenham and Sunderland in a career, which has yielded 106 top-flight goals.

Newcastle are set for a big summer of transfer activity, with Alan Pardew having revealed that multiple signings are in the pipeline.
