Reports in France suggest Newcastle have agreed to sell midfield maestro Yohan Cabaye to Paris St Germain for a fee of £21million, according to the Daily Mail.

Canal+ understand that the fee has been agreed between the two clubs, but the deal rests on the Magpies signing Montpellier’s Remy Cabella as a replacement first.

Cabaye, 28, was a target for Arsenal in the summer, but the Gunners refused to meet Newcastle’s £20million asking price.

Cabaye was the star of the show for Newcastle once again on Saturday, scoring twice in the 3-1 win over West Ham at Upton Park.

Toon boss Alan Pardew conceded after the game that he was nervous about losing the Frenchman, maintaining the idea that every player has a price.

“Like all Premier League clubs, everyone is for sale at some price,” Pardew said.

“We’re conscious that we have a good team and want to keep it together because we are not that far behind the guys that have been so dominant in the top seven this season.”

Newcastle have been linked with Montpellier star Remy Cabella since the summer, although the 23-year-old has also been the subject of interest from Manchester United.
