Newcastle United players and brothers Shola and Sammy AmeobiNewcastle United have been handed a timely boost as four first team members have returned to fitness ahead of their Monday night match against Everton.

With key players Cheick Tiote and Tim Krul missing through injury and Fabricio Coloccini picking up a knock on international duty. Alan Pardew will be delighted to welcome back both Ameobi brothers as well as Haris Vuckic and Shane Ferguson to training.

Pardew spoke to The Chronicle about the returning first team players, “We have both Sammy and Shola back.

“Plus we have Shane Ferguson back after he played for Northern Ireland. We’re keen to have him. He hasn’t done a lot of work but he’s come back ok and we’re really pleased.”

The Toon Army already have to adjust and adapt from the largely settled team that helped them to a fifth place finish in last year’s Premier League. Vurnon Anita is likely to start at right-back while Gael Bigirimana is likely to deputise for Tiote in midfield.

Pardew added on Anita, “If he’s played there for Ajax in the Champions League then he can play there for us. He can play central midfield or anywhere we put him.”
