Out of favour Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse looks set to stay at St James’ Park until the end of the season at least, with the Magpies rejecting a multi-million pound offer from Fenerbahce for his services, reports the Daily Mirror.

Cisse was widely tipped to leave the club during the January transfer window, and has been linked with moves to both Turkey and Russia in recent days.

Fenerbache were the latest club to make an offer on Monday – on the day their winter transfer window closed.

There are still three weeks remaining of the transfer window in Russia, and Rubin Kazan are also understood to be interested.

However Alan Pardew is unlikely to sanction a move, despite the fact the goals have dried up recently for Cisse.

The Newcastle boss does not want to leave himself short of striking options for the remainder of the season, and is likely to let the Senegal international leave the club in the summer.

Come the summer, Cisse could be the only senior striker the club own, with Shola Ameobi out of contract, and Loic Remy and Luuk De Jong only on loan until June.

Pardew has spoken of starting a major rebuilding job in the summer, and is looking to sign two strikers and a creative midfielder.

Although by that time, it will have been an incredible 18 months since the Magpies signed any kind of player on a permanent basis.

Cisse has managed just one Premier League goal this season – a penalty in the 5-1 win over Stoke City on Boxing Day.
