Loic Remy has placed his future at Newcastle in serious doubt by hinting that he could quit the club for Champions League football at the end of the season.

The French striker – the Magpies’ only notable summer arrival – has made an excellent start to the 2013/14 campaign following his loan switch to St James’ Park from QPR.

10 goals in 19 league outings have seen the Frenchman become one of Alan Pardew’s key players, and led to speculation that the North East outfit are desperate to make his temporary transfer a permanent one once the campaign ends.

However, Remy says that his future is far from clear and that he wants to be playing in Europe’s top club competition next season:

“I don’t know. At the moment I don’t know. The president of QPR may want to keep me next season.” He is quoted as saying when asked about his future by The Metro.

“I miss the Champions League. It is a very special competition. Next season I can play the Champions League again.

“We will see what happens, if I stay here or if we play in the Champions League.”

Remy has been attracting rumoured interest from Arsenal, while a number of other top English and foreign sides may move if he becomes available.

The 26-year-old completed a shock switch to QPR from Marseille earlier this year as a part of their plans to avoid relegation.
