Newcastle will be offered the chance to sign Joel Campbell on loan from Arsenal before the transfer window closes, according to reports from The Chronicle.

The Costa Rican striker has returned to the Gunners after three successive temporary spells away from the Emirates Stadium on the back of some heroic displays with Costa Rica at the World Cup.

Although Arsene Wenger himself has talked up the 22-year-old’s prospects with Arsenal and suggested that he will be kept for the coming season, it’s now understood that the Magpies may well be given the chance to snap him up for the 2014/15 campaign.

Newcastle have made Loic Remy and Alexandre Lacazette their top forward options, but if deals for neither are possible, then they may well turn to Campbell.

A sizable fee would be demanded by the Londoners for the arrangement, yet Alan Pardew may be willing to pay up with North East club currently short on firepower.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the speedy goal-getter, while AC Milan are rumoured to have already attempted to pull off a move.
