Newcastle may face a battle to keep on loan star Loic Remy at St James’ Park beyond the summer, with the French ace having confessed that he is ready to play for one of Europe’s top clubs.

The 27-year-old star joined the Magpies on a season-long deal last year from QPR, after the Super Hoops were unable to avoid relegation.

Having netted 13 Premier League goals, Remy has been one of the Tyneside outfit’s top performers, which has led to talk that the club are desperate to make his stay a full one once the transfer window opens.

But the ex-Marseille hit-man says that he has desires to play for a bigger side that has ambitions of Champions League football:

“Nowadays, without being pretentious, I might be able to play for a bigger club, a top-five European club.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“I do not know… Yes, I will be part of the European top five, or I will be part of a very large club. I’m sure of what I can do. I can still be much better.”

Arsenal are one other side said to be interested in Remy, while there are also suggestions that some of Ligue 1’s top clubs are also watching his situation.
